Plans Progressing

Today I talked with Leanne twice about the reunion.  I believe we have a pretty good flyer made with all pertinent information about the reunion.  It will be mailed to the children of Anna and Leo Haverkamp and I hope to email it to their children (assuming I have everyone's email address.)  I'm still collecting them (and putting them in my Contacts).

I also talked to Larry, my brother, about a couple of things we could do at the reunion (besides enjoy the wonderful meal Leanne has arranged for us).  It promises to be a good reunion, so if you haven't been to one in several years (or never been to one), plan to attend this year.

That's about it for now.  I've got a little more work on the computer and then it's time for bed.

Oops, forgot to share a picture with you tonight.  Great picture of Grandma and Grandpa, don't you think?

That's it for now.

Date and Location

Just got off the phone with Leanne and she has booked Valentino's in Seneca for the reunion.  The reunion will be held on Sunday June 10, 2012, from 12 noon to 4 p.m.  They will have a buffet with three meats, two vegetables, potatoes, two salads, coffee and tea, and rolls.  The final cost has not been calculated yet, but when it is I will post that information here also.  Each family will also receive a flyer with the particulars as we get closer to June.  The menu sounds very good and the cost will be very reasonable.

I promised another picture tonight, so will add it here.  Again, not sure when this was taken, but please note that I think Leanne is the oldest of the three children on the right.  I'm guessing that the other two are Leonard and Janice.  Leave me a comment if you think I've got that wrong.  Enjoy!

I'm slowly getting email addresses for everyone.  I want to congratulate and thank David Haverkamp for being the first one to respond and leave a comment on the site.  It's good to re-connect with relatives that have been out of your life for a while.  I hope to hear from others soon!

That's it for tonight.  Gotta get ready for a small trip tomorrow, and since I'm not quite sure how to get to the location, I've got to spend a little time researching how to get there.

An Old Picture

Me again....I sent the blog website to several of you yesterday.  I got a few more email addresses today and will send it to them as well.  Please feel free to view the site and leave a comment.  Leanne has been working on a location for the reunion.  I believe that it is pretty much decided it will be in Seneca, KS.  Is anyone surprised by that??? :)  Leanne has gotten information about one location and plans to visit it and at least one other tomorrow.  We may have more information in tomorrow's post.

Today I am going to try and post a picture of Anna and Leo Haverkamp.  I'm not sure when it was taken, hopefully someone will be able to provide that information.   Leo (Grandpa to me) was born June 1, 1896 and died October 17, 1971.  Anna (Grandma to me) was born May 23, 1893 and passed away on September 23, 1972.  They were married on April 23, 1918 (that's 53 years)!  They had six children and I hope to have a family picture tomorrow for you.

Please be thinking about the reunion and let me (through this blog) or Leanne know if you have any ideas about things you would like to see or do during the reunion.  Until tomorrow.........

2012 Haverkamp Family Reunion

Hi Family,

This is my first attempt at creating a blog and I thought this would be a good time to do so.  Leanna Baker is trying to organize this year's Haverkamp Family reunion and I'm hoping this is a good way to help her get the word out to everyone.  We will start be "word of mouth" and see how it grows.  First we need to let everyone know about this blog.  I will try to post developments in the planning of the reunion as I know about them.

If you are reading this, please comment and let me know your email address, so that I can contact you personally, if necessary.  Be sure to let me know who you are and how you are related to Anna and Leo Haverkamp.
